Felix is originally from Joliette, QC and I am from the UK (I’m Irish Chinese origin). Our worlds collided 7 years ago when Felix we both found ourselves travelling in South East Asia. I had been living in China for a few years & Felix was taking a year out. We first met in a small Laos village after sitting next to eachother at a streetside restaurant. I wasn’t that hungry, so I offered him the rest of my meal to finish. (I guess the way to a mans heart IS through his stomach! Luckily for me.. Ha!)
Beaucoup… The next morning we and a bunch of other travellers went on a disastrous canoe trip that ended up with everyone in the water rapids, cut, bruised and with all the boats down the river rapids. As you can imagine, our day did not go as planned and that adventure ended up with us all becoming friends! The following days we continued to travel with two other guys but after yet another dangerous incident involving us crossing a rapidly flowing river full with leeches, Felix & I realised that maybe we were meant to be. The two of us continued our travels together through South East Asia, before we decided to live in China for a couple of years. We then moved to London for two years before moving our life to Montreal.
Passionnément… We got engaged a couple of years ago * but have yet to plan a wedding! It will happen one day, hopefully in the Tuscan countryside, with close family, friends and plenty of good food & wine! Being an international couple, it’s a bit more difficult to organise getting people together with the costs involved. As much as my Irish Catholic family would love to see us have a wedding soon, they’ll have to wait just a little longer to buy their hats!
Mais surtout à la folie… As for our own little family, we currently have a 9 month old Brittany Spaniel that keeps us rather occupied! About us.. Felix is currently setting up his new media analysis & communications company, Expligo. Kerrie is a food consultant, recipe tester, keen Instagrammer & works at a cookbook store.
Bonus leurs fiançailles… If you want to know our engagement story- no problem! It was a bit of a ruined surprise though… Felix took me on a day trip around Lanaudiere, stopping at all the small food boutiques and vineyards in autumn. We had stopped to take pictures when Felix got a phone call. I noticed he was speaking English to someone, so was a bit confused at who it was, but then that was it. 10 minutes later, back in the car, I started to get messages on my phone from some cousins in England, congratulating me. My own family in the UK accidentally told me before I had even been proposed to! Why? I have three key father figures in my life & Felix had called them all before proposing to me, to ask for my hand in marriage! One, my cousin’s husband, he couldn’t get hold of for a few weeks. So Felix tried to call one last time that afternoon and finally got through to him. Unfortunately he misunderstood what was being said, and thought he had already proposed. Being at work, he simply emailed all the close family telling them the great news he got about our engagement. Oops.
L’automne me manque beaucoup trop.
